Police: Schenectady man fired gun into occupied car; Faces attempted murder count

The incident happened April 5, authorities say

SCHENECTADY – A Schenectady man has been arrested, accused of firing a handgun into a car occupied by five people, authorities said.

No one was injured in the April 5 incident, police said, but a nearby home was also struck by gunfire, police said.

Wayne M. Samuels, 25, of Regal Avenue, was arrested last week and charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder, a felony. 

Samuels is accused of recklessly firing the firearm into the vehicle with a depraved indifference to human life, according to police allegations filed in court.

The shooting happened at about 2:18 p.m. that afternoon in the area of Consaul Road and Ward Avenue, according to the allegations.

Samuels was arraigned and ordered held. He remained held Tuesday at the Schenectady County Jail without bail.
