MECHANICVILLE – A Mechanicville man has been arrested on drug and weapons charges after a raid at his residence Wednesday, police said.
Lynal J. Sexton, 38, of 40 Underwood Ave., was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.
Police arrested Sexton after a raid at his home conducted with the assistance of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Special Operations Team, police said.
Police found inside Sexton’s residence quantities of powder and crack cocaine, as well as a loaded handgun. A sheriff’s K-9 led police to the handgun, police said.
Mechanicville Police began the investigation that led to Sexton after receiving multiple neighborhood complaints about drug activity at the residence, police said.
Police also soon learned that Sexton was wanted by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision as a parole absconder, police said.
State parolee records indicate Sexton was under supervision related to a 2013 Schenectady County drug conviction where he had received 6 years and 10 months in prison, records show.
Sexton was arraigned and ordered held without bail.
The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are possible, police said.
