ALBANY – The National Weather Service is monitoring a storm set for Friday that could bring the region its first measurable May snowfall in 18 years.
The storm is set to roll through Friday afternoon and into Friday night and “may bring a period of snow to most of eastern NY and western New England,” the service said on Facebook.
The last time Albany recorded a measurable snowfall in the month of May was May 18, 2002, when Albany recorded 2.2 inches, the service said.
The forecast as of late Wednesday afternoon at the Albany International Airport showed a chance of rain after 2 p.m., with a high of 53. Then Friday night would bring rain and snow and then become all snow after 11 p.m. Saturday morning calls for a chance of rain and snow before 11 a.m. The high Saturday is to be 45.
