ROTTERDAM — A drive-thru COVID-19 diagnostic test site will open Friday outside the Rotterdam Walmart.

The new operation, a joint venture of Walmart, Quest Diagnostics and Schenectady County, will operate by appointment from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, weather permitting.

It will serve adults who meet local, state and federal guidelines for testing, including first-responders, health care providers, others showing symptoms, and those in high-risk groups without symptoms.

People wanting to be tested can check their eligibility and make an appointment through Quest’s MyQuest portal online and app www.MyQuestCOVIDTest.com.

The site will be staffed by Walmart pharmacists and employees. Those being tested will administer nasal swabs themselves, under observation of a trained medical volunteer.

Quest will process the test samples and notify participants of their results.
