COBLESKILL — A local pediatrician and internal medicine specialist is president-elect of the Medical Society of the State of New York.
Dr. Joseph R. Sellers, an attending physician at Bassett Medical Center and Cobleskill Regional Hospital, previously was vice president of MSSNY, the statewide professional organization that represents roughly 30,000 physicians.

The Buffalo native is a graduate of the University of Rochester and Georgetown University School of Medicine.

He has served on medical sessions in Haiti and Kenya and is a volunteer physician with the Boy Scouts of America. He is an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has been a trustee of the Cobleskill hospital for 20 years and served on the Schoharie County Board of Health for 22 years.

Sellers and his wife, Kathleen, live in Cobleskill.
