Great news for “Hamilton” fans: the filmed version of the hit Broadway musical will be out on Disney Plus starting July 3, according to The New York Times.

Originally, Disney planned to release the film on Oct. 15, 2021 but decided to move up the date because of the pandemic.

The musical, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, became a national favorite after its premiere in 2015. It became a local favorite during the touring production’s run at Proctors last year.

In a recent Daily Gazette poll, many named “Hamilton” as the best musical they’d seen at Proctors, with “Les Miserables” coming in second place.

The Tony-Award-winning musical follows the life and death of Alexander Hamilton, the country’s first secretary of the treasury. Like the Broadway production, the film will be directed by Thomas Kail. It will star Miranda in the title role feature the original Broadway cast.
