SCHENECTADY – A Schenectady parolee was recently arrested with a handgun reported stolen in 2017, authorities said.

Andrew Cubano, 27, of Steinmetz Homes, was arrested May 5 and charged with two counts each of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a loaded weapon, along with one count of fourth-degree possession of stolen property.

Cubano is accused of possessing a .40-caliber Glock just after 7 p.m. May 5 in a parking lot near 210 Steinmetz Homes, according to police allegations filed in court.

Police located  the gun in the center console of a 2004 Lexus SUV in which Cubano was sitting in the driver’s seat, according to the allegations.

The gun had been reported stolen in Schenectady in April 2017, according to the allegations.

Cubano had been on parole related to a 2016 Schenectady County drug conviction for which he was sentenced to five years in prison. He was released to parole in July and was to remain under supervision until this July. He was listed Thursday as in custody, having been cited for violating his parole.
