BROADALBIN — One person was killed and two others suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Honeywell Corners Road in Broadalbin early Saturday morning, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m., and Sheriff Richard Giardino said high speed appears to have been a factor.

The front-seat male passenger died in the crash, while the male operator and a female who was in the back seat were both taken by helicopter to Albany Medical Center Hospital. The identities of those involved have not yet been released, pending family notifications.

Giardino said the vehicle crashed into a tree while traveling at a high rate of speed. The investigation into its cause is ongoing.

Assisting at the scene were members of the state police, the Broadalbin-Kenyetto Fire Department, Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, County EMS Coordinator Mark Souza, Coroner Margaret Luck, and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction unit. The road was closed for several hours.
