AMSTERDAM  – An Amsterdam man was charged with illegal steroid possession and contempt after a Sunday evening stop on the Thruway in Amsterdam, state police said.

Brandon J. Pileckas, 43, was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, along with misdemeanor contempt, state police said.

Pileckas was stopped for multiple vehicle and traffic violations just before 11 p.m. Sunday. Troopers then got probable cause to search the vehicle and found approximately 76 grams of steroids, 30 grams of methamphetamine, 2.3 grams of fentanyl and three packages of naloxone sublingual film, state police said.

Troopers identified Pileckas’ passenger and determined that he had a full stay-away order of protection against him ordering him to stay away from the person, state police said.

Pileckas was also determined to be wanted on a bench warrant in Saratoga County, troopers said.

Pileckas was arraigned and ordered held pending a preliminary hearing.
