SCHENECTADY – The man shot in Schenectady Saturday night has died, police said Sunday morning.
Police were withholding the name and age of the man pending notification of his family.
Police were called to the area of Craig and Stanley streets at about 9:06 p.m. for a report of a man who had possibly been shot.
Arriving officers soon located the man who appeared to have a gunshot wound to his neck, police said.
The officers immediately started first aid, which was continued by paramedics from the Schenectady Fire Department.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
One witness at the scene, who declined to give their name, said they were in their house near the scene and heard a single gunshot. The person soon saw law enforcement administering CPR to the victim.
Police could be seen in the area later Saturday evening continuing their investigation, including shining flashlights in the area.
The shooting comes four days after a shooting on Victory Avenue in Schenectady that claimed the life of 48-year-old Schenectady resident Fred Gentry and injured a 28-year-old city woman. No arrests have been made in that shooting.
