COLONIE – A call to check on a 17-year-old girl Sunday led to the arrest of a man who illegally possessed a gun, Colonie police said.
The incident began just before 5:30 Sunday morning when a mother called police with concerns over her 17-year-old daughter, police said.
The mother believed her daughter was at the Red Roof Inn on Wolf Road and was in the company of an older man using illegal drugs, police said.

Officers soon found the girl, along with a man identified as Pierre D. Gray, 25, of Zephyr Hills, Fla., police said. Officers safely returned the girl to her mother.
Police then investigated further and determined Gray had initially lied about his identity to conceal a felony probation warrant out for him in Pasco County, Fla., police said.
Police received consent to search the room and discovered an illegal Taurus 9mm handgun loaded with nine rounds and an additional 32-round magazine for the gun. Police also located a small amount of marijuana.
Police charged Gray with one count each of second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, along with misdemeanor criminal impersonation, violation marijuana possession and charged him with being a fugitive from justice.
Gray was arraigned and ordered held.
