TROY — City police have released new details and asked for the public’s help as they continue to investigate the recent gunshot death of a young man.

Donovan Clayton, 18, was wounded around 10:45 p.m. June 5 in the area of Sixth Avenue and Swift Street. A police officer on routine patrol found him there, unresponsive on the sidewalk. Officers performed CPR and Fire Department paramedics took him to Samaritan Hospital but he could not be revived.

Detectives believe he was hit by a stray bullet as he walked home and called him an innocent victim in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police are seeking help with the investigation. They ask that anyone who was in the area at the time or who might have information about Clayton’s killing call Detective Sgt. Thomas Feeley at 518-270-4666.
