ALBANY – A man was shot and killed and a second person injured late Saturday in Albany, police said, the second homicide in a spate of shootings in the city in recent days.
Saturday night’s fatal shooting happened at about 10:45 p.m. in the area of North Lake Avenue and First Street, police said.
Police responded there for a report of shots fired. They arrived to find a 24-year-old man outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, police said.
Albany firefighters treated the man at the scene, then took him to Albany Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Shortly after that call, police received another call for a gunshot victim in the area of Clinton Avenue and Quail Street. Officers arrived to find a 30-year-old man there with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm.
Police soon determined he had been shot in the same incident on North Lake Avenue, police said.
The injured man was taken to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

Saturday night’s fatal shooting marked the latest gunfire incident in the city since early Thursday. A total of 12 people were shot Thursday in four incidents. In the fourth, Niskayuna resident Dwayne Fenner, 34, was killed.
Then, early Saturday morning, police responded to two new shootings where one person was injured in each.
In the Saturday morning incidents, police reported that staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital notified police that a 23-year-old man entered the emergency room at about 1:15 a.m. with a graze wound to the head, as the result of being shot while in the area of Grand and Elm streets.
Then, at about 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Sherman Street and Lexington Avenue for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 27-year-old man had been shot in the torso and had been transported to Albany Medical Center.
