GALWAY – The victim of a car-pedestrian accident in Galway early Wednesday has been identified as a Galway man, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.

Daniel Arnold, 40, died in the crash just before 3:30 a.m., officials said. Investigators had initially been unsure of the man’s identity and appealed to the public for help identifying him.

The crash happened at Route 29 and Benzal Road in Galway, officials said, as the man walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was struck.

The operator of the vehicle stopped and awaited patrols and there was no evidence of impairment on the part of the driver, officials said. Officials identified the driver as Neil Batholoma, 31, of Middle Grove.

The crash remained under investigation later Wednesday, but the preliminary inquiry determined the cause to have been pedestrian error, officials said.
