Mekeel Christian Academy
Madison Lilienthal
VALEDICTORIAN
PARENTS: Nathan and Karen Lilienthal
COLLEGE OR OTHER PLANS: I plan to attend Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and major in graphic design and marketing
AFTER COLLEGE: I want to work for a marketing firm and then eventually start my own business.
WHAT IS IT LIKE GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC: My class missed out on a lot of things seniors usually experienced. We will never get the chance to do these things together again. However, we also will have special memories together that no one else will have. Mekeel also has done a lot to make us seniors feel special in spite of the pandemic.
WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR CLASSMATES THIS SEMESTER: I learned a lot about myself this year. For example, I learned that I love math, but love art and music just as much and could not imagine my life without it. I also learned my classmates are resilient and we have really come to support each other during this pandemic.
WHAT IS A MEMORY OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR YOU’LL NEVER FORGET: I will never forget the skit my class performed at Mekeel’s high school retreat. We all impersonated the teachers and the skit was hilarious.
WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: I will miss my friends and my amazing teachers
WHAT’S IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYERS: Worship Music (Another in the Fire (Hillsong), All Hail King Jesus (Upper Room), and Canvas and Clay (Pat Barret) ) and Disney Music
BEST PART ABOUT GRADUATING: Going to college in Florida!
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: My parents inspire me. They continually teach me what hard work looks like. They have sacrificed time and money to help me achieve my goals. They have always been encouraging, especially this year after I had my shoulder surgery. There was a time when I couldn’t move my arm, yet they encouraged me to keep working hard and persevere through the hard days.
