TOP 10

PARENTS: Daniel Huba and Michelle Gabree-Huba

COLLEGE OR OTHER PLANS: I will be majoring in environmental science at Lafayette College as a Marquis Scholarship recipient.

AFTER COLLEGE: I hope to work for a nonprofit organization that champions conservation and biodiversity protection. I want to do everything I can to protect the environment.

WHAT IS IT LIKE GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC: It has certainly been difficult. I am missing out on all of the events I have looked forward to for the past four years. I also miss seeing the people I have grown up with and it is sad to know that this is how it had to end. However, I feel extremely grateful for everything my community has done to make this time special and I am excited to have their support as I move into this new stage of life.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR CLASSMATES THIS SEMESTER: How much my classmates truly mean to me. It is easy to take for granted seeing the people you have grown up with every day. Through this pandemic, our class has shown our adaptability and perseverance. Even while distanced, we are working to finish our senior year together.

WHAT IS A MEMORY OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR YOU’LL NEVER FORGET: On the day before school started, our class went to the football field to watch the sun rise. We were planning to also watch the sunset on the last day of school. It was bittersweet as we knew we would soon say goodbye. But we also knew that the ending of this one chapter would allow us to embark on our next great adventure. I will never forget the excitement we all shared that morning.

WHAT WILL YOU MISS MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: The teachers. They pushed me to do my best and they inspired me to love learning. I have had the opportunity to work with many amazing teachers throughout high school and I’m so grateful for every one of them. They are a large part of why I was successful in the classroom.

WHAT’S IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYER: Currently I’m listening to Wallows, Cage the Elephant, and The Lumineers. I’m always up for some oldies though.

BEST PART ABOUT GRADUATING: It’s the beginning of a new journey. I will be off to start the next phase of my life, college, meet new people, learn new things.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: My mother.
