WHAT IS IT LIKE GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC: It has definitely been hard because many of the things in my senior year that I was looking forward to, have been cancelled. But, I am ready to move on after high school and this was only a temporary setback. I am excited to go to college in the fall and continue to swim.
WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR CLASSMATES THIS SEMESTER: It’s very difficult to make myself get to work at a decent hour, to keep a schedule when there is not a lot of pressure to be anywhere or do anything at a certain time. AP exams were the only thing that gave me some motivation to get my work done because I really wanted to do well on them. Since I have not seen my classmates in a while, it is hard to speak for them. But, I have been talking to my friends daily and planning things to do over a video call or on a video game. Of all the things I have learned, during this pandemic, we try to keep things as normal as possible.
WHAT IS A MEMORY OF OUR SENIOR YEAR YOU’LL NEVER FORGET: I definitely won’t forget this social distancing but, I also won’t forget my orchestra experience with my teacher and all the things we have done together. I was an intern for her, so I would help teaching the middle schoolers and help her to stay organized. It was always a fun time helping her.
WHAT WILL YOU MISS THE MOST ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL: The varsity swim team, my orchestra and my teachers. These experiences will remain with me and I intend on keeping in touch with my friends and favorite teachers.
WHAT IS IN YOUR MUSIC PLAYER: This is a hard question because I listen to a lot of things mostly because of the influences from my parents, my orchestra and my friends. From musicals to 80’s pop and rock, to speed metal, heavy metal, hard rock, goth rock, and romantic, classical and impressionistic pieces, and music scores. Especially Joe Hisaishi.
BEST PART ABOUT GRADUATING: Getting to move on to a new place and figure out what to do with my life. I am so excited to go to Stony Brook and get to go to the city from time to time.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: My physical therapist, my brother, my parents, teachers.
