PALATINE – A Canajoharie man choked a man to the point of unconsciousness last week in Palatine, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said Monday.

Theodore Nichols, 33, of Barclay Street, was arrested late on July 6 and charged with one count of second-degree strangulation, a felony, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Nichols is accused of fighting with another man at a residence on Wagner’s Hollow Road in Palatine at about 11 p.m. that night and placing him in a choke hold, causing the victim to lose consciousness, officials said.

Nichols had left the scene prior to deputies’ arrival, but was located a short time later and taken into custody.

Nichols was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear in court later.
