TROY — Keith Danzy has been named as the new women’s basketball coach at Hudson Valley Community College, the school announced Wednesday.
Danzy comes to HVCC following 20 years as the director of girls basketball with the Albany City Rocks AAU program. He was responsible for day-to-day operations, supervising all volunteers and coaches from Utica, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo.
“Keith brings an experienced background with a tremendous track record of success both on and off the court”, HVCC athletic director Justin Hoyt said in a press release. “His core values align with the department’s mission and goals, and I look forward to seeing the program grow under his leadership.”
A Hudson Valley alumnus and an All-American on the Vikings’ men’s basketball team, Danzy’s tenure with the City Rocks saw him recruit many of the top girls’ basketball players in the Capital Region into the program, including Saratoga Springs’ Dolly Cairns (Rhode Island) and Kerry Flaherty (Holy Cross), Niskayuna’s Olivia Owens (Kentucky), Schenectady’s Sheila Dixon (Brown), Albany’s Lakeytah Irving (Coppin State) and Maple Hill’s Katie Roth (Hartford).
