SCHENECTADY – Discover Schenectady Wednesday announced two promotions, including its new interim executive director.

Angela Kelly, the organization’s director of sales and product development, is taking over as interim executive director, the organization said.

Kelly replaces Becky Daniels, who left Discover Schenectady in June for CAP COM Federal Credit Union. Kelly has a background in hospitality, association management and business development.

The organization also announced Kristina Ranalli is moving from marketing assistant to content and marketing manager.

“Angela and Kristina have both been a key part of the Discover Schenectady team,” Jeff McDonald, Discover Schenectady present and member of the Schenectady County Legislature said in a statement. “The Discover Schenectady Board of Directors is fully confident that the internal promotions will elevate the hard work accomplished by the office this far to the next level.

Discover Schenectady was created in 2017 by the Schenectady County Legislature to maximize revenue from economic development activity throughout the county through the promotion of tourism.

In her own statement, Kelly addressed the ongoing COVID-19 crisis that has halted much tourism.

“We want to ensure that when it is time to host a conference, book a group tour, or travel again, Schenectady County will be at the top of the list,” Kelly said.
