Saratoga Sheriff: Latham man drove drunk in Wednesday morning head-on Malta crash

MALTA – A Latham man drove drunk Wednesday morning as he crashed into two vehicles, one head-on, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.

One of the other drivers then had to be extricated from their vehicle and was taken by ambulance to Saratoga Hospital, officials said.

William M. Biette, 44, of Latham, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and felony aggravated unlicensed operation. He was also charged with misdemeanor assault and other charges.

The crash happened at about 6:24 a.m. on Route 67, near Raymond Road in Malta, sheriff’s officials said.

Investigators determined Biette had been headed east on Route 67 when he crossed the center line and struck a vehicle heading west. He then hit another vehicle, also heading west.

Biette was also charged with circumvention of an ignition interlock device, second-degree criminal contempt and reckless driving, all misdemeanors, and traffic infractions.

Biette was arraigned and ordered held on bail for further proceedings
