SCHENECTADY – The woman shot July 5 in Schenectady has died of her wounds, police said Thursday.

Police identified her as Ieasha Merritt, 34, of Schenectady.

The shooting happened at about 6:20 a.m. July 5 in the area of Albany and Hamlin streets, police have said.

Arriving officers found Merritt lying in a parking lot near the intersection, suffering a gunshot wound to her head, police said.

Schenectady firefighter/paramedics tended to her at the scene before Mohawk Ambulance took her on to a local hospital for further treatment.

In announcing her passing, police renewed calls for anyone with information on the shooting to contact detectives at 518-788-6566.
