COLONIE — Two men from New York City were killed in a crash early Friday morning on Central Avenue, and three women in another vehicle severely injured, Colonie police said.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:06 a.m. on Central Avenue near Lombard Street, and arriving officers found two heavily damaged vehicles in the eastbound lanes.
Two men in a 2010 Nissan were killed. Police identified them as Naquain Key, 35, of Jamaica, Queens, and Najee Parks, 31, of St. Albans, Queens.
Three women in the other vehicle, a 2014 Volkswagen, were taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with what police called “severe” injuries. The driver was identified as Shajaine Foskey-Gause, 20, of Cohoes. Also in the vehicle was Jamilla Battle, 20, of Rensselaer, and a woman in her early 20s police haven’t yet identified.
Police said it appears the Volkswagen was traveling westbound on Central Avenue and struck the Nissan as it was exiting a business near Lombard Street.
Central Avenue remained shut down for the investigation until just after 7 a.m. Colonie EMS, the Stamford Heights Fire Department and Midway Fire Department all responded to the scene.
The investigation is continuing. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has video footage or other information to contact the Traffic Division at 518-783-2744
