BALLSTON – A Ballston Spa woman has been arrested, accused of helping a woman apply for unemployment benefits, then taking her benefit card and more than $3,000 in benefits, state police said.
Cassandra M. Llewellyn, 46, of Ballston Spa, was arrested last Tuesday and charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, felonies.
Llewellyn is accused of helping the woman known to her and then taking the victim’s unemployment benefit card out of the mail and using it to make purchases without the victim’s knowledge, state police said. The total heft topped $3,000 troopers said.
Llewellyn was processed and released to appear in court later.
