SCHENECTADY – A Wednesday morning fire damaged a Broadway apartment house.
One person was treated at the scene, but did not require transport to the hospital, Assistant Fire Chief Don Mareno said. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was called in shortly after 4:30 a.m. at 1715 Broadway. A passerby spotted the fire and alerted residents by banging on windows, Mareno said.
The building had four apartments and Mareno believed seven people were inside at the time. All got out. The Red Cross responded to offer aid to those displaced.
The fire caused fire damage to the front first- and second-floor apartments. Firefighters were able to keep the fire to the front of the house, Mareno said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes. The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, Mareno said.
