
TOWN OF AMSTERDAM – An Amsterdam man has been arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop last week on Route 5 in the Town of Amsterdam, Montgomery County Sheriff’s officials said.
Steven A. Carrero, 30, of Academy Street, was arrested Thursday and charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.
Deputies stopped Carrero for a traffic infraction. While speaking to Carrero, the deputy smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle. A search then uncovered 7.4 ounces of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.
Carrero was also cited for violation marijuana possession and a traffic infraction.
Carrero was arraigned and ordered held.
