Rising senior tested NBA draft waters

Manny Camper will return to Siena for his senior men’s basketball season.

The Maryland native made that announcement Wednesday with a social-media post, as the Siena star withdrew from NBA draft consideration. Camper had declared for the draft in April.

Camper had until Monday to withdraw from NBA draft consideration in order to maintain his NCAA eligibility. Camper was the second Saint in as many years to declare for the NBA draft before opting to return to school, as teammate Jalen Pickett did the same during the offseason between his freshman and sophomore seasons last year.

As a junior, the 6-foot-7, 210-pound Camper earned a first-team All-MAAC selection. In helping lead Siena to a regular-season conference championship, Camper averaged 13.7 points and 10.4 rebounds.

Siena is coming off a 20-win campaign that closed with the Saints winning their final 10 games prior to the season’s cancellation because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
