Shenendehowa Transportation Department employee has confirmed case of COVID-19

Potentially impacted staff and students contacted by NYS Department of Health

An employee of Shenendehowa Central School District’s transportation department has a confirmed case of COVID-19, the district announced Friday.

The district said it is continuing to “closely monitor this situation” and is communicating with local and state health officials so it can take the “appropriate steps.” It has already contacted all staff and students who could have potentially come in contact with the employee.

The district said the department is following Center for Disease Control protocols with “enhanced infection control precautions.” Along with the announcement, it reiterated its Prevention-Mitigation-Reinforcement approach to the pandemic, which involves daily health checks, mask wearing, social distancing, contact tracing, disinfecting and retraining and “reminding of prevention practices and protocols.”

“Safety is everyone’s responsibility,” the announcement read. “This is a difficult time for everyone. The safety and wellbeing of our learning community is our top priority. Please know that we are adhering to guidelines from the local and state health departments, which continue to evolve as we learn more about this virus.”
