Tornado Watch issued for large area, including all of Capital Region


ALBANY – A tornado watch has been issued for a large area of New York, including all of the Capital Region.

The watch is to be in effect until 10 p.m. 

The watch area runs from the Canadian border to just north of New York City and from east of Syracuse to east of Springfield in Massachusetts. The watch largely covers areas in New York State, but also includes portions of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The threat includes a few tornadoes possible, along with isolated hail of up to ping pong size is possible. Scattered wind gusts of up to 70 mph are also possible.
