The shooting happened just before 10:30 p.m. on Sixth Avenue, between Crane and Pleasant streets. Police were called to the area for reports of shots fired.

Police could be seen in the area late Sunday placing evidence markers at multiple shell casings in the street.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Schenectady Police Department at 518-788-6566.

The death marked the city’s fourth gunshot homicide in 2020, after a 15-month stretch where the city saw no gunshot murders.

The fatal shooting also came a week after the city saw five reports of gunfire July 28 where multiple people were injured, but all survived.
