New York Yankees relief pitcher and Shaker High School product Tommy Kahnle underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair his injured right ulnar collateral ligament, the team announced Wednesday.

According to a post on the Yankees’ official Twitter account, the procedure was performed by Dr. Christopher Ahmad at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and went as expected.

Kahnle made one appearance for the Yankees this season before his season was ended by the injury, tossing a scoreless inning with three strikeouts July 26 against the Washington Nationals. Last season, the Shaker grad went 3-2 with a 3.67 earned run average and 88 strikeouts over 61 1-3 innings in 72 relief appearances for the Yankees.
