Fulton County Sheriff’s deputy involved in crash in Town of Johnstown; Deputy, two others taken to hospital

TOWN OF JOHNSTOWN  – A Fulton County Sheriff’s deputy responding to a call Sunday afternoon was involved in a crash in the town of Johnstown, sheriff’s officials said.

The deputy and the two occupants of the other vehicle involved were all taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville for treatment of injuries sheriff’s officials described as non-life-threatening.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 30A and Route 29A, officials said.

The deputy had been in route to a physical domestic violence call with lights and siren on, heading north on 30A when the patrol car collided with a car headed east on 29A, officials said.

Due to the nature of the accident, Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino requested the state police handle the investigation. The sheriff’s office will provide copies of the patrol car video and additional video from the scene to the state police, officials said.
