Saratoga Springs, Ballston Spa PDs warn of car thefts, thefts from cars


SARATOGA SPRINGS – Police in both Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa are warning of new thefts involving cars.

Saratoga Springs Police Tuesday reported numerous thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Geyser Crest neighborhood early Tuesday.

Two vehicles were also stolen from the area. One vehicle was recovered later Tuesday morning. The other vehicle remains missing, police said.

The Ballston Spa Police Department Tuesday afternoon also reported a sting of thefts from vehicles throughout the village. A release posted to Facebook did not provide further information.

Anyone with information on the Ballston Spa thefts is asked to contact police there at 518-885-5033.

“The Saratoga Springs Police Department would like to remind its residents and visitors to lock their homes as well as vehicles when left unattended,” police wrote in a release.

The new thefts also come after the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Monday announced the arrests Aug. 6 of two teens, age 15 and 17, from  Schenectady in an investigation that covered similar thefts in Clifton Park, Ballston and Malta.
