Sistercharlie (5-2) will make a play for a three-peat of the Grade I Diana Stakes, run at 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf. The Irish mare took the 2018 running in 1:46.26 and the 2019 race in 1:47.93.
Rushing Fall (3-2) finished second to Sistercharlie in the Diana last year and has been the more consistent finisher since, and Starship Jubilee (5-2) beat both Sistercharlie and Call Me Love (8-1) in the Grade II Ballston Spa Stakes on Aug. 14.
However, when at her best, Sistercharlie runs better than anyone else in this field. Her show finish in the Ballston Spa came off an extended layoff, and her third place finish in the race prior came in a Breeder’s Cup race where she displayed some of her best career speed.
Sistercharlie has the history to suggest that she will be able to bounce back into form, and for her, there is no better place to do so than the Diana.
