Sunday’s feature race will be the Grade III Shuvee Stakes, run over 1 1/8 miles on dirt. The race features nine entries, two of whom are hoping that small changes will make a big difference.

Royal Flag (7-2) enters today’s race coming off the Grade III Molly Pitcher. She finished a distant third, but the race was run at a much quicker pace than is expected today. Prior to her jump to the graded stakes class, she dominated the lower classes. She returns to jockey Javier Castellano, with whom she collected her most recent win.

She will likely be tested by Letruska (3-1), who has run her best races in the USA at a route distance on dirt. Her last time out was in the Grade I Ballerina Stakes here on August 8, but she could not maintain after attempting to keep a quick pace early. Today’s race is expected to be a bit more steady, which should suit her better.
