Police: Gloversville man tried to kidnap woman at gunpoint at tavern


GLOVERSVILLE – A Gloversville man tried to kidnap a woman at gunpoint early Sunday, police said.

Christopher G. Betor, 47, of Park Street, was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with second-degree attempted kidnapping and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.

Betor is accused of attempting to abduct the woman at about 2:25 a.m. Sunday at an address on South Main Street.

A police release did not provide further information, but charging paperwork filed by police in court identified the location of the attempted kidnapping as Rocky’s Tavern, 97 S. Main St.

Betor is accused of holding the semi-automatic pistol to the woman’s head and demanding she leave with him, according to the police accusations filed in court.

Betor was arraigned and ordered held on $15,000 bail.
