Jessica Hildenbrandt, 43, of Ballston Spa, has been identified as the homicide victim whose remains were discovered in southern Vermont last September, according to the Vermont State Police.
Investigators used DNA analysis and other evidence to identify Hildenbrandt as the victim. Her remains were discovered in Searsburg in September 2019, according to the release.
Searsburg is a town in southern Vermont off of Route 9 between Bennington and Brattleboro. Police were initially called to investigate the discovery of a jawbone located at a gravel pit, and investigators discovered other remains at the site.
Investigators said Hildenbrandt, also known as “Red,” spent considerable time in Vermont, especially in and around Bennington. She was last in touch with her family in July 2019, according to the release.
The Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide and Vermont state police continue to investigate the death. Investigators requested anyone who might have information relevant to the case to contact Detective Sgt. Samuel Truex at 802-442-5421 or by email at [email protected] Police are especially interested in hearing from people who think they may have seen Hildenbrandt in summer 2019.
