An Albany man faces felony charges of assault, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment after driving a car into the DePaula Auto Group dealership on Central Avenue in Colonie last week.
Richard Reed, 53, on Thursday morning confronted sales staff at the dealership about an unclear problem with a car he purchased in 2019, according to a release from Colonie police. Reed allegedly told staff he was leaving, returned to his car and revved the engine a few times before driving the car into the building.
One salesperson had to dive out of the path of Reed’s car and injured his leg after it was pinned under the vehicle, according to police. Reed was transported to Albany Medical Center for a mental health evaluation and was arrested by Colonie police at his home Monday. Reed is scheduled to appear in Colonie Justice Court on Wednesday.
