SCHENECTADY – A third arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a mother of six earlier this summer.

Marchello Rizzo, 23, was arrested Thursday and charged in connection with the slaying of Jennifer Ostrander on Aug. 2, according to county District Attorney Robert Carney.

Rizzo, of Schenectady, was charged with second-degree murder, according to the Times Union, which first reported the arrest.

Ostrander, 31, died after being shot in the head while relaxing on the porch of her Sixth Avenue home in the city’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood with at least two other people.

Within days, police arrested two Middletown residents, Joel Johnson, 21 and an unidentified 17-year-old with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Both were charged as active shooters, and the 17-year-old has not been identified because of his age.

Carney previously said the suspects opened fire on the group after being dropped off by several vehicles, but stopped short of saying if Ostrander was the intended target, citing the preliminary nature of the investigation.
