WASHINGTON COUNTY — A Clifton Park woman was arrested Thursday in connection with a crash in August in rural Washington County that left two people dead, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department said.
Lindsey B. Godfrey, 29, of Timber Terrace, was arrested on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, a Class B felony, as well as driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol.
Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy said the charges stem from an Aug. 8 crash on state Route 313 in the town of Jackson, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. He said Godfrey was operating a vehicle in a reckless manner that included mobile phone use, unsafe speed, and drug and alcohol intoxication.
Godfrey was arraigned in Fort Edward Town Court and released without bail pending a further court appearance.
The collision occurred as Godfrey was operating a 2017 Subaru on Route 313 that struck a 2019 Subaru operated by Richard Chadwick, 43, of Cambridge, police said. Chadwick was killed, as was his mother-in-law, Alice Hahn, 77. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant of the vehicle, 47-year-old Jill Chadwick, was transported to Albany Medical Center due to injuries, but survived, deputies said.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department accident reconstruction unit assisted with the investigation.
