SCHENECTADY – The Schenectady County Social Services building at 797 Broadway will be closed Friday for a deep cleaning after a second department employee tested positive for COVID-19, the county said Thursday night.
The move to close and deep clean the building comes “out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of employees,” officials said in a release.
“There is currently no evidence that the two cases are connected to each other, but the contact investigation is ongoing,” the county release read.
The county earlier this week advised of the initial positive, saying anyone who visited 797 Broadway Oct. 15 should monitor for symptoms. The county called the risk of exposure low from that positive and indicated the department has followed all guidance.
Emergency DSS services will still be processed during the Friday closure and phones will be operational, but responses may be delayed, the county said.
