CLIFTON PARK – A Schenectady man led Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase this past week from Clifton Park to Schenectady, sheriff’s officials said.
No one was injured in the incident and the suspect, identified as Anthony M. Johnson, 20, was taken into custody in Schenectady, officials said.
The incident began at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday on Plank Road in Clifton Park, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies attempted to stop Johnson, but Johnson refused and sped off.
Deputies gave chase and continued pursuing Johnson to Peek Street in Schenectady. Officials did not describe the pursuit or exactly how it ended, but indicated Johnson was arrested there. A passenger fled the scene in Schenectady and was not found.
The car was reported stolen out of Albany, officials said.
Johnson faces one count of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, along with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, misdemeanors, and numerous traffic infractions.
Johnson was arraigned and released to return to court later.
