ALBANY — Halfmoon-based G&G Industrial Lighting will partner with the University at Albany through the START-UP NY program.

G&G expects to invest more than $2 million over the next five years and create seven local jobs as part of the process.

START-UP NY offers a significant reduction in state and local taxes for participating businesses, and gives them access to the resources of the public or private college or university with which they partner. In return, the businesses provide that school’s students with a real-world laboratory in which to gain work experience.

G&G began in 2011 as a maker of LED lights for the car wash industry and has expanded into other demanding industrial light applications. It hopes to grow in new directions including food processing and mass transit, and will soon expand its manufacturing facility by 6,000 square feet.

Eight other companies have partnered with UAlbany through START-UP NY, investing $4.1 million and creating 96 new jobs over their first five years.
