SCHENECTADY — Schenectady police made an arrest Friday in an October robbery at Northeastern Fine Jewelry on Union Street.
Michael A. LaMalfa, 33, of Schenectady, was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony. He appeared in Schenectady City Court, and was released without bail.
Police said that on Saturday, Oct. 24, officers were called to the upper Union Street jewelry store after a panic alarm was activated. An employee told police that a man had come into the store and requested to try on a Cuban-link gold chain. The man then walked over to a mirror, and then ran from the store. The chain was estimated to be worth $9,000.
City police said the investigation that led to LaMalfa’s arrest was assisted by detectives in both Niskayuna and Colonie.
