
COLONIE – Three Virginia men were arrested early Thursday on weapons counts after a Central Avenue traffic stop, police said.
Police stopped the vehicle just after 1 a.m. near Colonie Center for a traffic violation. Officers soon detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed a .40 caliber handgun magazine with 11 rounds and then a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun loaded with 15 rounds, police said.
Arrested were Eliakim K. Cuffee, 20, of Chesapeake, Va., identified as the driver; George N. Cuffee, 28, of Chesapeake, Va.; and Datron T. Johnson, 25, of Norfolk, Va.
All three face one count each of second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.
Johnson faces additional counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, felonies.
The two Cuffees also face violation counts of marijuana possession, police said.
The three were held pending arraignment. Details of their arraignment were not available Sunday.
