SCHENECTADY – A fire over the noon hour Monday damaged an Elmer Avenue home.

The fire was called in at about 12:20 p.m. at 157 Elmer Ave.

Fire crews responded to find fire in the second floor of the building. They had the fire out in about 15 minutes, Fire Chief Ray Senecal said.

No injuries were reported.

No one lived in the home, but construction was underway via a contractor, Senecal said.

The fire remained under investigation Monday afternoon, but the early investigation suggested no foul play involved, Senecal said.

The call also marked the second one to that address this year, Senecal confirmed. Crews were called there Feb. 5 for a fire in the attic area. There were no injuries in that fire and Senecal recalled that investigation found the cause not to be suspicious.
