SEWARD — Troopers were called to 5700 state Route 145 in the town of Seward shortly before 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving after a home there exploded.

“The home was vacant at the time and no one was injured,” State Trooper Meghan Lohman said in a press release Friday.

The blast, which practically leveled the modular home, is under investigation and no arrests have been made, Lohman said.

Police are not releasing the homeowners’ names. The new modular home had just been placed on the recently purchased property as new construction in the last few weeks, according to David Jones, assessor for Seward, a town in Schoharie County.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Schoharie County fire coordinator and the Sharon Fire Department. The investigation is continuing.
