WILTON – A Wilton man broke into a residence in the town Wednesday morning and attacked a man with a machete, state police said.
The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment, state police said. He has since been released.
Charged in the attack is John J. Martino, 34, of Wilton.
He faces one count each of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary and other charges, state police said.
The attack happened at around 4:30 a.m. at the victim’s Wilton residence, state police said.
Martino is accused of breaking in, attacking the victim with the machete and menacing two other people in the home, troopers said.
Martino was known to the victim, state police said.
State police took Martino into custody at the scene.
Martino also faces one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and two counts misdemeanor second-degree menacing.
Martino was arraigned and ordered held without bail.
