AMSTERDAM – Three men have been arrested in a scheme to take catalytic converters from locations in the town of Amsterdam, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department said.

The thefts took place at several locations in the town over the past few weeks, officials said.

Arrested were George A. Thomas Jr., 32, of Amsterdam, Joshua E. Greco, 30, of Gloversville, and Timothy D. Faboskay, 32, of Middle Grove.

They each face one count of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and misdemeanor petty larceny, possession of burglar tools and stolen property possession.

They were processed and released to appear in court later.

Assisting in the investigation were the Amsterdam Police Department, state police, the Crime Analysis Center, Gloversville Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation remained ongoing Monday and further charges were possible, officials said.
