Lewis’ record-setting performance lifts Fairfield women’s basketball past Siena

LOUDONVILLE — Fairfield’s Sam Lewis nearly singlehandedly beat Siena by herself in a record-setting performance on Saturday.

Lewis scored a program-record 39 points and set a team and MAAC record with 11 3-pointers made as the Stags cruised to a 76-44 victory over the Saints at Alumni Recreation Center.

The victory gave the Stags (2-0 MAAC, 3-1 overall) a sweep of the weekend series against the Saints (0-2, 0-2). Fairfield won Friday’s game 68-56.

Lewis missed just two 3-point shots. Overall, she was 14 of 17 from the field.

Katie Armstrong added 14 points for Fairfield. Lou Lopez-Senechal had 12 points.

Rayshel Brown led the Saints with 17 points. Isis Young chipped in with 13 points.

The Saints return to action next weekend when they visit Canisius for a two-game series starting Friday.
